Kolkata: The menace of auto drivers still continues in the city. On Tuesday, auto drivers had resorted to hooliganism at Ultadanga. On Wednesday, a similar incident occurred at Jadavpur.Sajal Talukdar, a former Air Force personnel was slapped and scratched by an auto driver, after his car was hit by the auto.According to Talukdar, he was driving his car to Camac Street from Garia on Wednesday morning at around 11:30 am. He alleged that an auto overtook him by driving over the traffic spring posts and hit the car in the front. When Talukdar protested in a loud voice, the accused, identified as Rakhal Das, allegedly pushed him. He also scratched Talukdar in the neck.Following the altercation, Talukdar came back to his car and sat inside. Das followed him and pulled Talukdar out of the vehicle and slapped him immediately after he tried to get back inside. Sensing local resistance Rakhal tried to flee with his auto, when a passenger informed Talukdar that blood was coming out of his throat.When Talukdar put his hand on his throat to check, he found that his two gold chains were missing. Following this, he promptly chased the auto driver. In a hurry, Das gave one gold chain to Talukdar and fled from the spot.”Later, I informed a traffic sergeant nearby and sought help,” said Talukdar. Following first-aid treatment on his throat, Talukdar filed a complaint with the Jadavpur police station.Immediately, police lodged an FIR and arrested Das within a few hours. However, the other gold chain is yet to be recovered.The police are already taking necessary action to curb the auto menace in the city.
