first_imgFlashback: Mr. Konneh addresses sports journalists shortly after he returned from the 2017 CAF champions League.Mr. Sekou Konneh has resigned as president of the Barrack Young Controllers (BYC) club.Mr. Konneh announced his resignation over the weekend at the climax of the LFA extraordinary congress held at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in Monrovia.Meanwhile, the club has named former national team (the Lone Star) goalkeeper, Nathaniel Sherman as it new president replacing Mr. Konneh.Konneh said he took the decision because, “I have been elevated to the first vice president position for the Liberia Football Association.”Although, there is no statutory provision that deprives Mr. Konneh of maintaining the position as the club president, and at the same time serving as LFA Vice President for Administration, “I decided to give others the chance to serve the club.”Mr. Konneh served in the position over 20 years.“I am assuming a bigger role at the LFA, which I think is for the good of all Liberian players and clubs, but not just the BYC. So, I have decided to willingly step aside as a way of growing new leadership at the club,” he said.“I think it is important that I use the bigger national role to help our young ones and other new people, who are involved with football by sharing my experiences of how I did it to reach this level, and how I can help them go ahead too,” Konneh said.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img read more
